OAKLAND, Calif. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced yesterday that additional disaster assistance is available to the territory of American Samoa by authorizing an increase in the level of federal funding available as a result of Tropical Storm Gita during the period of February 7-12, 2018.
Under the President’s major disaster declaration issued for the territory of American Samoa on March 2, 2018, federal funding was made available for Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation, and Other Needs Assistance under the Individuals and Households Program at 75 percent federal funding of total eligible costs.
Under the President's order yesterday, the federal share for Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation, and the Other Needs Assistance portion of the Individuals and Households Program has been increased to 90 percent of the total eligible costs.
