The National Exercise Program (NEP) is gearing up for its flagship event, the National Level Exercise (NLE) 2024, slated to take place on April 24, 2024 (ChST) at the RIHGA Royal Laguna Guam Resort. This exercise, organized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), is a critical component of national preparedness efforts, bringing together stakeholders from all levels of government, the private sector, nongovernmental organizations, and community groups.

FEMA’s Chief Component Procurement Officer and FEMA Region 9 are facilitating a webinar for businesses in American Samoa, Arizona, California, Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, Hawai’i, Guam, Nevada, and the Republic of Marshall Islands Federated States of Micronesia that want to learn how to do business with FEMA. The webinar will review FEMA’s small business program, category management, contracting, regional coordination, and include presentations from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration and Minority Business Development Agency.

During Typhoon Mawar, wind speed in Guam reached approximately 140 mph, leaving behind a trail of damaged and destroyed homes. In response to the survivors’ needs for a safe, sanitary and secure home, FEMA initiated GUAM STRONG (Getting Urgent Assistance Mobilized to Support Typhoon Repairs ON Guam) to assist affected households by undertaking temporary emergency repairs to make homes habitable.
