Ensure You Get the Required Permits You Need to Rebuild in a Flood Zone People who live in flood-hazard areas and had damage to their homes during the Feb. 15 – 18, 2025, winter flooding in Logan, Mercer, McDowell, Mingo, Raleigh, Wayne, and Wyoming counties are urged to consult local building officials to obtain floodplain development permits before considering repairs or new construction.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginians have one week left to apply for FEMA assistance for damages from the February storms. Assistance is available to residents of Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Raleigh, Wayne and Wyoming counties. The deadline to apply is Monday, April 28, 2025.
