Additional counties in the commonwealth of Kentucky have been added to the major disaster declaration for Kentucky’s severe storms and flooding that took place from Feb. 14, 2025, and continuing. Homeowners and renters in Estill, Johnson and Simpson counties are eligible to apply for FEMA’s Individual Assistance program.

If your home was damaged but you can live in it safely after the severe storms and flooding, FEMA may be able to provide you money to help with cleanup. This assistance is for eligible homeowners and renters.

If you applied for FEMA assistance after the flooding in Eastern Kentucky you will receive an eligibility letter from FEMA in the mail or by email. The letter will explain your application status and how to respond. It is important to read the letter carefully because it will include the amount of any assistance FEMA may provide and information on the appropriate use of disaster assistance funds.

Disaster Recovery Centers will open in Knott and Floyd counties today, March 2, in areas affected by the February floods.

In one week, homeowners and renters in eleven Kentucky counties have been approved for more than $2 million from FEMA to help with recovery from the February floods, and additional assistance may be available for those who apply and meet eligibility requirements.
