FEMA’s Methodology for Estimating Potential Losses from Disasters
HAZUS-MH is a powerful risk assessment methodology for analyzing potential losses from floods, hurricane winds and earthquakes. In HAZUS-MH, current scientific and engineering knowledge is coupled with the latest geographic information systems (GIS) technology to produce estimates of hazard-related damage before, or after a disaster occurs.

HAZUS-MH Hardware and Software Requirements
HAZUS-MH MR3 Patch 3
With this patch release, HAZUS-MH MR3 will become certified to operate on Windows XP SP3 and either ArcGIS 9.2 SP5 or ArcGIS 9.3 SP1. Patch 3 includes 20 enhancements in the flood model. Among the most significant of these are the integration of updated regression equations for all 50 states and optimization of annualized loss calculations.
NOTE: 1) Users need Patch 2 already installed, and 2) users should not uninstall Patch 2 (if already on their computer) before installing Patch 3.

HAZUS-MH MR3 Patch 2
The HAZUS-MH MR3 Patch 2 makes significant adjustments and incorporates improvements in the Flood, Earthquake and Hurricane models, and the HAZUS-MH Shell. Note: Operation of Patch 2 requires installation of Service Pack 5 (ArcGIS 9.2 should already have been installed as part of the HAZUS-MH MR3 installation). Read about the changes.
