South
Thunderstorms will develop across central and eastern Texas. River flooding is likely to occur. The heavy-rain-producing thunderstorms extend across parts of southern Arkansas and Louisiana.  The Southeast will experience scattered thunderstorms.

Midwest
Scattered thunderstorms are forecast from the Great Lakes to the central plains.  From the Mississippi Valley eastward highs forecasted in the upper 70s and 80s 

Northeast
Saturday's temperatures will range from the 70s in the north to the 80s and low 90s in Virginia.

West
Highs will range from between 100 and the low 120s in the Desert Southwest to the 90s and low 100s in Montana.  Isolated thunderstorms are forecast mainly over the mountains. (NWS, Media Sources)

Tropical Weather Outlook

Atlantic/Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico:
Tropical formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.
Eastern Pacific:
The area of disturbed weather centered about 805 miles southwest of Manzanillo.  This system has the potential to become a tropical depression as it moves west-northwestward. 
Western Pacific:
Typhoon, Man-Yi, located approximately 495 miles west southwest of Tokyo, Japan, has tracked northeastward at 23 miles and hour over the past 6 hours.  Sustained winds of 92 mph with gusts to 115 mph. Earthquake Activity

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 5:54 p.m. EDT Friday 21 miles east southeast of Adak, Alaska, at a depth of 31 miles. Historically, there have been over 1,500 earthquakes within 65 miles radius of this occurrence recorded since 1973. Wildfire Update

States Most Affected: Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and Oregon
National Fire Activity as of Friday, July 13, 2007:

Initial attack activity: Light (195 new fires)
New large fires: 7
Large fires contained: 11
Uncontained large fires: 33

Milford Flat:  Southwest Area, Utah State Division of Forestry Fire & State Lands. Three miles north of Milford, UT is 65% contained and has burned 363,052 acres. This fire has a containment date estimate of July 17, 2007.

Egley Complex:  (ten fires), Burns Fire Zone, Malheur NF. Is ten miles north of Riley, OR. Timber litter. It has a moderate fire behavior. Numerous structures remain threatened. Periodic road closures remain in effect. Is 31% contained and has burned 72,000 acres. No expected containment date has been set.

Antelope Complex:  (12 fires), Plumas NF. Is twenty miles northeast of Quincy, CA. Active internal fire behavior with torching. Structures remain threatened. Mandatory evacuations of several communities remain in effect. Is 83% contained and has burned 22,900 acres.

Highway 93 Complex:  (two fires), is five miles southeast of Jackpot, NV.  Is 90% contained and has burned 80,533 acres 
Weather Discussion:  Thunderstorm activity and hot weather to continue in the West.
Thunderstorms are expected today in the Northwest, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and the Four Corner states.  There is also the threat of lightning over the mountains and deserts of southern California. Alaska will have scattered showers and thunderstorms today.
