National Weather Summary

Midwest
Scattered afternoon thunderstorms are forecast across the Great Plains and the Ozarks. Isolated thunderstorms remain in the forecast from the Texas Panhandle northward into the Dakotas through Tuesday.

South
Isolated thunderstorms predicted along  the coasts and scattered thunderstorms across Texas and the Southwest. Afternoon thunderstorms will also remain in the forecast but nothing substantial enough to help with the extreme drought conditions prevalent across of the Southeast.
 
Northeast

A few showers are forecast from Downeast Maine to the Chesapeake Bay.

West
Showers will diminish west of the Cascades Sunday and Monday, but scattered thunderstorms continue across Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. A few more thunderstorms will appear each day through Tuesday across parts of Colorado, New Mexico and possibly extreme eastern Arizona. (NWS, Media Sources)

Tropical Weather Outlook

Atlantic/Caribbean:
A large tropical wave, located about 550 miles south-southeast of Cape Verde Islands, is moving quickly westward at 20 to 25 mph. Some development is possible in the next day or so before the system encounters unfavorable conditions. Elsewhere, tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.

Eastern Pacific:
A large area of low pressure, centered several hundred miles southwest of Acapulco Mexico, is moving slowly westward. Associated thunderstorm activity remains minimal and development of this system, if any, is expected to be slow to occur. Elsewhere, tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.

Western Pacific:

Earthquake Activity

Earthquake activity in the last 24 hours occurred in the Aleutian Islands and Gulf of Alaska, and Alaska Peninsula Regions, with magnitudes of 3.0 to 4.3. (NOAA, USGS, Earthquake Hazards Program, Alaska Earthquake Information Center, Pacific Tsunami Warning Center)

Preliminary Damage Assessments

Oklahoma - Public assistance PDAs for five counties are scheduled to begin June 11, 2007.

Nebraska - Individual Assistance PDAs for two counties and Public Assistance for 19 counties are scheduled to begin June 18, 2007.

Kansas - Individual Assistance and Public Assistance PDAs have been requested for 3 counties.(FEMA HQ)

Fire Weather Discussion:
The Southwest will experience scattered, dry thunderstorms over portions of eastern Arizona and western New Mexico. Dry, gusty winds are expected east of the Sierras, across Nevada, and into western Utah. Scattered, isolated showers are forecast for most of Florida and the Southern Area Sunday. Disaster Declaration Activity

The President of the Federated States of Micronesia has requested a major disaster declaration as a result of unusual high tides and drought beginning January 1, 2007 and continuing through March, 2007.  The President is specifically requesting Direct Federal Assistance, USDA Emergency Food Assistance, Public Assistance, and Hazard Mitigation for Chuuk State. FEMA-1705-DR, Iowa - for severe Storms, Flooding and Tornadoes: Amendment No. 1 amended this disaster to include Dallas County for Individual Assistance, effective June 8, 2007.
